Minky-Made Rarity Plush by MintyStitch Minky-Made Rarity Plush by MintyStitch
A commission for Southwest Bronies for a contest they held a couple months ago! The winner got a plush of their choice up to $150 in value from me, and they chose to get a minky-made Rarity.

This was my first time working with minky, and while it was a pain in the butt compared to fleece, I think the result is really nice! She's very soft to the touch~

Aw, very cute!
Nice work, especially considering it's your first time with minky!
I always hear that it is pretty tricky at first!

aaah thank you!! ;-;
yes, it was pretty tricky. not only is it more costly buying the minky itself, but i had to use more stabilizing material for embroidering, as well as adding interfacing to all of the pieces. the most annoying aspect of it though was the constant shedding from cutting all the pieces and any raw edges that i hadn't gotten to sewing yet @ w @
it's worth the effort though, i feel. i'm sure that you, as a plush collector, know the benefits of it (:

Very welcome!
I definitely do know the difference in the final product, but I've only heard of the all the difficulties in working with it.
It sounds tough to get a hang of, but once you have it down, the dividends pay out huge!  =)

i think that's it's really just a matter of being careful and patient with it. keeping the direction of the "fur" in mind was the only difficult part i suppose!
and yes, the pay out is certainly worth it uwu but i'm glad that i have both a fleece and minky option for my commissions though, so that people with smaller budgets can still get a plush!

That's what I've heard.  =)

And more options are always better!
It gives more people opportunities and has the added benefit of giving you more variety in your own work.  =)
